eNom Vs NameCheap

Web Hosting

Let’s compare eNom vs Namecheap for web hosting. Both of these companies are great for those seeking a domain name.

eNom Vs NameCheap: 8 Differences (Easy Choice)

But, what many people want to know is are they good enough to be used as an actual hosting company since they were created to be domain registrars?

I will compare both of the companies and I will also add the top rated host to this comparison.

Free domain

I love companies that offer a free domain to their users. Unfortunately both eNom and Namecheap do not offer domains when you start. Although this makes the hosting deal far better it is not necessary. If you wanted a free domain SiteGround offers a free one for life.

In the long run you will be saving money because you will not have to pay a renewal fee. Another plus about this is that you will be able to set up your website easier. A 30 minute setup process time turns into 5 minutes when you are given a free domain.

Control panel

eNom uses the Plesk Control Panel while Namecheap uses cPanel. Both of these hosting companies are popular and they are easy to use. Most people have used cPanel before so it is going to be easier for you to use. It also offers more features such as Hotlink Protection, Webalizer, DNS Zone Editor, File Manager, Backups, Billing System, Domain Management, Getting Started Wizard, Cron Jobs, Network Tools, and more. I would like to add that SG also offers the cPanel control panel.

Price comparison

eNom hosting has three plans to choose from. They have a $4.88 a month plan, which is their Starter plan. This plan is great for beginners. It’s an affordable option recommended for bloggers, small businesses, and online portfolios.

They also have an Advanced plan for $8 a month. This plan is ideal for maintaining multiple websites under a single hosting plan. Great for small business or personal use.

The last plan that you can choose is their Business plan. The name says it all. This plan is ideal for web designers who host their clients’ websites or for large companies with numerous websites. The Business plan costs $17.60 a month.

Namecheap also has various plans to choose from. They have a $9.88/yr plan, $19.88/yr plan, $29.88/yr, and a $19.88/mo plan. The problem with the Namecheap plans are that they are lacking in a whole bunch of features. You might see the $9.88/yr plan and rejoice, but these plans will never result in a successful website.

SiteGround offers hosting for $3.95 a month and you get a plethora of premium features for a successful blog. Immediately we see that SiteGround is the ideal choice in price.

Which hosting company will make your website faster?

When we check the server response time of both hosting providers we notice that Namecheap is slightly faster than eNom. Namecheap is faster by about 100MS with a page load response time of around 560MS. Because of SSD, NGINX, HTTP/2, and more SiteGround is over 200ms faster than NameCheap.

Which company offers a better uptime for your website?

Both of these hosting providers have the same uptime. With both hosts you can expect an uptime of around 99.92% – 99.93%. This is an alright uptime, but for your shared hosting company you want the least downtime as possible. SiteGround offers a 99.99% uptime and it the top rated WordPress host provider among all shared hosting companies.

Website builder comparison

For most people you will never use a website builder. I never recommend them because of the limitations, but for the sake of this review I will be showing the difference between their website builders.

Namecheap uses Onepager for $40 a year. With the Onepager quick website builder, you give them the info and they build the page for you. Your business or personal site can be ready in just a few minutes. Select your theme, layout and features, then watch as your site comes to life in real-time. Once you’re happy with the design, click to publish and Namecheap does the rest. After your site is up and running, you can come back at any time for quick edits.

Enom uses a simple drag & drop content editor which makes it easy to bring your idea to life, exactly the way you want. The eNom website builder basic plan costs $5.99/mo.

Technical support

I am not pleased with the Namecheap support. The problem that I have with NC is that they don’t offer phone support, which is a real killer for me. You never know when you’re going to need to call your support team. What NC does offer is 24/7 live chat support and ticket support.

eNOM on the other hand offers phone support which is a plus, but they do not offer any live chat support. I like to have both at my disposal, but if you could have only one, then you would choose phone support. Both companies lack in support, but SG offers 24/7 phone support, live chat, ticket support, a large knowledgebase, blogs, and more.

Bottom line

No experienced blogger will ever recommend you to host your website with a domain registrar. Domain registrars are not for hosting websites. I can’t recommend either domain registrar. You need an actual hosting service. I added SiteGround to this review which is the highest rated host. It beats both companies in uptime, speed, features, price, and more. Below I will provide you with a tutorial to help you start ranking today with your new website.

Quotes – Successful people maintain a positive focus in life no matter what is going on around them. They stay focused on their past successes rather than their past failures, and on the next action steps they need to take to get them closer to the fulfillment of their goals rather than all the other distractions that life presents to them.
